It is with a heavy heart that we need to re-home our beautiful Catalina Macaw, Maui. Due to unexpected life changes, we can no longer provide the time and attention she deserves.
Maui is a 2 year old, DNA-tested female, and was purchased when she was about 12 months old. In my 60+ years of owning birds, she is truly one of my favorites.
Catalina macaws (Scarlet × Blue-and-Gold) are widely considered one of the most beautiful macaw hybrids, and Maui is a stunning example with bright orange/yellow coloring and rich blue and green wings. With proper care, Catalina macaws can live 50–60+ years, making them lifelong companions.
About Maui
- Very affectionate, playful, and people-friendly
- Steps up reliably
- Loves head scratches, cuddling, and interactive play
- Already talking and says: Hello, Hello Lover, Hi, Nice to see you, Shower, There you go, Come here, Whooohooo
- Very intelligent and still young enough to learn much more
Like all macaws, Maui can be loud, messy, and loves attention. She enjoys being around people and prefers to be part of whatever you’re doing. She’s happy playing in her cage with toys but would much rather sit with you.
She enjoys a healthy diet of pellets, fruits, vegetables, and nuts, with occasional treats like bread, cereal, bananas, chicken, steak, and pea pods. She also loves bathing and happily splashes in a shallow water tray.
Maui has occasionally explored the house and has lived peacefully around our dog and cat.
She has always been raised with love and respect, and finding the right home where she will continue to be safe, engaged, and loved is extremely important to us.
Location: Heber City, Utah (about 45 minutes from Salt Lake City)
Rehoming Fee: $4,900
Includes multiple cages, stands, and accessories at no extra cost.
