I got this cow in November. She calved November 24. I think she is about 6 years old. She has raised 4 calves for me, they are still nursing off her. She raised 8 calves a year for the guy who had her before me (4 at a time). She produces tons of milk. I think he said she is a Norweign red, jersey, with a bit of brown swiss. She is not bred, I haven't been able to get a bull but I have seen her cycle.
She does have a lump on her neck, she's had it since before I got her, I think its from pressing on the manager. I did have a hard time getting calves to latch onto the back left teat so it doesn't produce as much milk as the other teats.
She is halter trained. I find it is easiest if I tie her up and let the calves nurse twice a day. She is not a fan of calves that aren't hers and you will have to fight her to let them nurse for a little while but she will eventually stand and let them nurse.
