This is Kal, short for Kaladin! We believe he is a golden retriever/border collie mix and he is 55 lbs. He was rescued off the side of the road when he was 6 months old and it is highly suspected that he was abused in his former home due to likely improperly healed fractures in his hips. (not confirmed) Due to these circumstances he isn’t a big contact dog and struggles to get aquatinted with strangers, but when he does he’s the most loving boy and shows a lot of affection to his people. He is 2 now, neutered, and up to date on all of his shots, and has no other medical issues.

We are thinking of rehoming him for a couple of reasons. My husband just recently had allergy testing redone and he is unfortunately really allergic to Kal, and it has been making him pretty sick.

Second, the main reason, we got Kal before getting pregnant and having our daughter. Now that she is a toddler and more mobile, it’s pretty apparent that he is really anxious. When she approaches him he bares his teeth and has nipped a time or two, and since we’re in an apartment there isn’t really a great place for him to be separated.

Kal loves other dogs and would do great in a place that had them! He also loves being outside and having his own space. He would do best in a home with no young children, and I really want him to go somewhere where he will feel loved and understood, preferably somewhere that has experience with rescues.
