“Rusty” is a 13yr old mustang gelding standing at 14.3hh.

He has been my main mount for the last 6 years. I’ve done everything on him from the show pen (winning 2 high point buckles for 2 show series), team penning and sorting, we’ve dabbled in cutting, done some jumping, he’s amazing on the trail, even participated in the buffalo round ups, crosses water and dead fall, he’s ponied colts for me, done reining patterns, tracking the dummy till the day is long, he’s been used to lead steer some and has been patterned for poles, barrels and rocks the keyhole.

He’s not gonna win you any speed events but he can keep up and tries his heart out. I’ve rode him tackless and he knows a few tricks. Ride him in a halter, a snaffle, a spade bit, a loping hack, or shank and he rides the same.

He is consistent W/T/C, knows his leads, has a cute slow trot, extended trot you can ride for miles without you getting sore and he’s dependable in any weather. He will spin a hole in the dirt and stay in one spot. He’s got a quirky personality but absolutely not mean. He wants to do good by you and is always trying his heart out. Stands tied for hours, loads in a trailer and backs out by himself, halters with ease, way too easy to catch out in the pasture, good to deworm, fly spray, hose off etc

His biggest “con” is he needs a patient farrier and his arch nemesis is the hoof stand. I can trim him without a halter on but he doesn’t tolerate the stand. How he’s always been, not worth it to me to fix.

He’s a jack of all trades, but a master at none. He will literally do anything you ask.
