I have pure Bresse chicks and Bresse/Sulmtaler mix for hybrid vigor. Here is a little bit more about each breed.

Bresse This remarkable table breed is considered a national treasure in its native France. Reputed to be the best-tasting chicken in the world. The American Bresse is well know for being a better option for a sustainable meat bird. Our flock is docile and calm, our rooster is so good with the hens and sounds the alarm for aerial predators. We have not seen any aggression towards us even with the spring hormones he has flowing. They are a multipurpose bird laying 250 large tinted eggs each year.

Sulmtaler We have 4 Sulmtaler hens in with our Bresse flock in hopes of having hybrid vigor. The Sulmtaler is a rare and ancient chicken breed from the Styrian region of Austria. It is reputed to be one of the tastiest chickens in the world although it is also well regarded for its egg-laying ability. Once considered a delicacy in the royal Austrian and French courts, today Sulmtalers remain a favorite for gourmands in Central Europe.
