ApplePayThis casserole-sized walnut trivet is a great way to hold casserole dishes, sheet pans, and more. Place your hot glass, cooking pans, or cookie sheets directly onto the trivet to help protect your wooden table or cold countertop. These trivets are made from walnut wood in my shop, but I have made them in cherry and oak as well. The size is 9” by 13”, with slight variations due to natural variances in wood expansion or contraction.
All middle slats were drilled so a dowel rod can fit through to the ends. Walnut dowel rods were cut to provide evenly spaced slots, which were also drilled to fit the dowel. Lastly, they were sanded and finished with food-grade butcher block conditioner that is safe for food contact and is easy to reapply as often as desired. This also protects the wood from pans coming right out of your hot oven.
