ZelleSextant, Stadimeter & Compass (Complete, Cased, 1942–1944)
Exceptional grouping of original World War II-era maritime navigation instruments, all housed in their original fitted wooden cases. This set includes a 1944 Hezzanith London marine sextant (No. M.713) with original Certificate of Examination, a U.S. Maritime Commission stadimeter manufactured by Schick Inc. (1942), and a gimbaled marine compass in fitted box. Together, these represent the core toolkit of a mid-20th century ship’s navigator prior to the adoption of radar and electronic navigation.
The sextant retains its original inspection certificate, optics, and fittings, with clean arc graduations and well-preserved components. The stadimeter is clearly marked with U.S. Maritime Commission provenance and serial number, and includes its original instruction sheet inside the lid. The compass features a classic floating card and gimbal mount, designed for stability at sea. All three pieces show honest age while remaining highly presentable, making this a rare and cohesive display set.
Sets like this are increasingly difficult to assemble, particularly with matching cases and documentation. Ideal for collectors of nautical instruments, WWII artifacts, or for high-end maritime décor.
