This here is Opie and he is 9 years old. We purchased Opie directly off a racing barn about 3 years ago. He is a pretty chill boy, not spooky and lazy. No buck or bolt. He is food aggressive with other horses when he is pastured with a large group of horses. The most dominant horse in the field. I would reccomend an intermediate rider as he is stubborn, sometimes heavy in the bit and would be hard for a beginner to learn on. He was purchased for my husband and my husband was pretty new to all the horse showing. Opie was great and did everything asked of him. We took him to quite a few all around shows. He was shown in speed events, show events and cow events. Not fancy trained in any one event. I have video of him under saddle at the walk/trot/lope for those wanting to see it.
Please read all the way through. This boy needs minimal maintenance on his knee. He had surgery for chips in his knee during his racing days. This has not caused any issues until last year. We took him on an all day trail ride and noticed some favoring that we determined was coming from the knee. We had X-rays done and there was mild inflammation in his knee. The vet reccomended previcox to maintain the discomfort. He only needs it when he is worked hard. We determined any traveling that is more than 2 hours and all day trails/shows are when he needs it. Does not need it when riding normally. I have X-ray's on hand for anyone wanting to see them.
Please text 435-754-6025 for any further questions. Thanks.
