This is a 1992-P U.S. Mint PROOF Silver One Dollar coin and Copper/Nickel Clad Half Dollar coin celebrate the 400th anniversary of Columbus landing in America, and includes the original government packaging and Certificate of Authenticity. The proof silver dollar coin is 38.10mm in diameter and is 26.73 grams with a composition of 90% silver and 10% copper yielding 0.76 troy ounces of fine silver. On the obverse is Columbus by a globe with ships in the background, and on the reverse is a split image of Santa Maria and the Space Shuttle Discovery.
The CuNi clad half dollar is 30.61mm in diameter and is composed of 92% copper and 8% nickel. On the obverse is Columbus landing in the New World and on the reverse are the 3 ships: Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. Both coins are proof strikes and were minted in the Philadelphia mint facility.
