Lakota – 16 yr old Mare – 14.2hh | Blackfoot, Idaho

Lakota is an all-around mare that has been around and seen many different environments. I’ve owned her for the past 10 years, and she’s been my go-to for everything from gymkhanas and roping calves to extensive trail riding. She’s dependable, versatile, and knows her job.

🟢 Ride & Training: Neck reins, saddles quietly, and rides out confident. She’s been exposed to a variety of environments and handles herself well, whether in the arena or out on the trail.

🟢 Manners: Excellent to trailer, ties quietly, and stands well for the farrier. Easy to catch and straightforward to handle.

🟢 Care & Soundness: Lakota is barefoot and maintains well without shoes. She does have a bone chip in one back hock; because of that, she may occasionally get an anti-inflammatory supplement if she’s sore after heavier use. She has not required injections. I cannot guarantee her passing a PPE either.

🟢 Disposition: Lakota loves kids and is gentle to be around, but she is not a beginner horse. She can get a bit “hot” under saddle at times, so she’s best suited for an intermediate rider or above. She has no bad habits or vices, just a forward, responsive nature. In the pasture, she tends to think she is the “queen bee.”

Lakota would best suit a rider looking for a seasoned, versatile partner with a solid foundation and years of real-world experience.
