VenmoVintage 62cm 80's Peugeot Force 8. Single chain ring, 7-speed 14-28 freewheel, friction shifter, measures 62cm from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube.
I thought I might be able to make this bike work for me, but was sadly mistaken. It’s in better-than-average shape, probably owing to the fact that it’s extremely uncomfortable to ride and an absolute bitch to work on. Looks great in front of a coffee shop or watering hole, assuming you were able to walk the bike there or only had to ride it a very short distance. Commands attention from any angle, kind of like the way you admire guys who ride and work on those old Triumph motorcycles, even when they’re stranded on the side of the road, trying to kick the damn things over. The unfortunate buyer accepts any and all liability, with the understanding that once you buy the bike, it’s yours - no refunds, returns - nothing. If you’re a business owner and you want to put a piece of Francophonia up on a wall somewhere, you’d be doing me and probably the whole cycling community a favor by taking this thing off my hands before it gets re-sold and falls into the hands of some poor, unsuspecting soul. I’m a pretty marginal bike mechanic too, so if you end up with this thing, you might want to give it a good going-over, or have someone who knows what they’re doing look at it. Just don’t tell them where you got the bike and don’t expect them to ever speak to you again. Space constraints do not allow full disclosure of all the hidden surprises associated with this bike but I can regale you with the rest of the nightmare on request or if you want to come take a look.
New cables and housings, 700c x 28 Panaracer Pasela gumwall tires (new last fall). The old pedals look nice but take some getting used to, so I can change them out for some platform pedals (and you can keep the old pedals and the toe clips if you want). Lovely real leather bar tape that I did an almost-adequate job of wrapping. It's a tall bike, so would probably fit someone between 6' and 6' 5", assuming you can work up the nerve to try and ride the thing. Text with any questions or to come view the beast. $125 obo. 8O1-five seven 3-zero zero four four. Thanks and god speed!
