Reckless Perry (Reck) He is a 16-year-old papered Appendix gelding with a great pedigree. He is a well-rounded, broke horse with all the buttons—he neck reins beautifully, moves off leg pressure with ease, and is soft, responsive, athletic, and very smart. Around 15.2 hands (not taped)
He has experience and has placed in racing, barrels, and poles. He is comfortable out on the trail or in the arena. He has plenty of speed when asked, but is just as willing to settle and ride relaxed.
On the ground, he is a complete gentleman. He is: • Easy to catch (meets you at the gate) • Great to saddle and handle (will lift his feet for you with even the smallest gesture) • Stands well for the farrier • Loads and hauls well •Stands tied
He is sound, zero maintenance, and can go barefoot (we shoe when riding consistently). Just had his teeth done and his shoes.
He has been ridden in the arena by my 4- and 7-year-old (videos available) and has a kind, willing temperament. That said, due to his athleticism and sensitivity, I am recommending him for a confident/intermediate or advanced rider. He has had one buck when spooked in a high-pressure/ scary situation, so with that he is NOT being sold as a beginner or kid horse. He can be a little watchy at times, and needs someone who he can trust and can help him build a little confidence. This boy will do anything for you, and wants to please and trust.
Notes from a trainer: “He's a horse that you could take in any direction you wanted to go if you wanted to run barrels he's definitely gonna do that. If you wanted to go rope I think he could do that also or if you just wanted a horse to ride around he would be great for that. He is just a great horse with a lot of potential.”
This is a really fun special boy. Not one that we’d let go lightly. A good home is a must!
