We are looking to rehome our Belgian Malinois, Dodger, born July 2023.
This is an incredibly difficult decision for our family, but we are trying to do what is best and safest for everyone involved — including Dodger.
Dodger is a very intelligent, energetic, and affectionate dog with the typical Belgian Malinois personality traits. He is loyal, highly food motivated, eager to engage with his people, and thrives when given structure, exercise, and mental stimulation. He loves being around his family and has a lot of potential in the right environment.
However, it is important to be fully transparent: Dodger does have a bite history involving a person. Because of this, he absolutely cannot go to just any home. He needs an experienced owner who understands working breeds, behavioral management, boundaries, and the responsibilities that come with owning a dog like a Malinois.
We are trying everything we can before euthanasia, which is something we desperately want to avoid. We truly believe Dodger can still have a good life with the right person — someone experienced, patient, realistic, and willing to accept the responsibility and risk associated with his history.
Dodger would do best in:• An adult-only home or very controlled environment• Someone experienced with Belgian Malinois or similar working breeds• A home able to provide structure, exercise, and consistency• An owner comfortable managing behavioral risks and continuing training
This is not a situation where we are trying to “pass off” a problem dog. We care deeply about him and are committed to finding the safest and most appropriate placement possible.
Please reach out if you have serious experience with the breed and would like to talk more about Dodger and whether it may be a good fit.
