Authentic early American hutch table, also known as a chair-table — a rare multifunction furniture form dating to the early 19th century. The back lifts and secures with original wooden pegs to convert from a chair into a table. Includes a single drawer for storage.
Solid wood construction with deep, original patina and age-appropriate wear. Structurally sound and fully functional. Pegs are present and intact — many surviving examples are missing these.
Includes a reference article by Ralph and Terry Kovel documenting the history and use of hutch tables in America.
Approx. measurements: 40” W x 20” D x 29” H as table; converts to chair approx. 40” H with 17” seat height.
