PayPalBeautiful French Violin By Francois Barzoni Labeled as 1891 and is branded FB on the back button as well as the bottom rib under the saddle. Thomastik-Infeld Vision solo strings are Brand new. Absolutely perfectly set up and ready to play needs nothing.
I was able to look inside the instrument and can report no repairs have been made to the inside, like cleats or patches. Hard to believe this is about 135 years old in this condition. The neck projection was exactly 27 mm giving the bridge a height of 34 mm ensuring that the string angle is correct and not low like one might see with many vintage instruments that gives this quite a lot of volume like modern instruments. The action at end of fingerboard is just over 5 mm for the G and 4 mm for the E. The bass side top corner edges have had some touchup, but for an instrument this old that would be expected see images.
In tonal character the violin has a warm, mature tonal range. The bass side has some noticeable resonance, just a little bit of an edge, not just power. The moment I started playing it, the instrument hit me as a very balanced sound. Not too much power but a big, large, full tone. The vibrant bottom sound is complemented with an engaging powerful treble E and A strings. The instrument is lightweight and produces a sound on the treble side that is as equally alive as the bass side. The violin is responsive and simply put is easy to play. This is not a beginner violin this is for an expert level player IMO.
Contact me to stop by and play it. I have many other violins and bows offered for sale at this time.
