Beautiful antique 19th-century English (provincial) longcase / grandfather clock with a hand-painted arched dial.
Features: • White painted dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials (appears signed “A. R. & Co.” or similar) • Colorful spandrel paintings (figures in corners) and arched lunette scene with cherubs/angels and seated figure • Elegant broken-arch (swan-neck) hood with brass rosettes and central finial • Rich mahogany (or similar) case with string inlay, arched trunk door, and plinth base
This is a classic example of early-to-mid 1800s British clockmaking — decorative painted dials became popular after 1770 and were favored by middle-class homes. Great presence as a statement piece!
Condition: Good antique condition with honest age-related wear, surface dust, and minor patina (see all photos). Case is solid; dial paint shows typical minor crazing/flaking for its age.
