John Juzek 1925 Petite Violin – Prague, Czechoslovakia – Played in Japan on Mission This is a beautiful and rare John Juzek 1925 Petite violin made in Prague, Czechoslovakia. John (Jan) Juzek was a renowned Czech violin maker whose instruments from the 1920s are respected for their excellent craftsmanship, powerful tone, and playability. Built on strong Guarneri-inspired models, these violins from the golden era of Czech making are prized by advancing students, professionals, and collectors. This petite model is ideal for petite adults or players wanting a responsive instrument with a more manageable size. It still delivers a surprisingly rich, mature sound with excellent projection. The spruce top shows attractive tight grain with nice gradation — an important factor for resonance and sound quality. The one-piece maple back has appealing flame, and the varnish has developed a warm, aged patina with deep reddish tones over its 100+ years. I personally took this violin to Japan and performed with it during my mission — it has traveled the world and held up beautifully under real performance demands. The instrument is in solid playing condition but the strings and bridge are old, which is actually to the buyer’s advantage. You can choose exactly the string setup and bridge that matches your preferred sound and playing style. The chin rest is designed for comfortable play without a shoulder rest. Pegs, fingerboard, and nut have been professionally maintained. It comes with a case and a quality pernambuco practice bow (available for a little extra if desired). Priced at $7,000 willing to drop to $6000 if not including the bow. This is a wonderful playable piece of history with strong tone and character that will serve its next owner for many years. You are welcome to come try it in person. Serious inquiries only — please include your playing level or intended use when contacting me.
