Saucy Walker dolls were made by the Ideal Toy Co. in 1951-1957. This is a beautiful little doll that has been well taken care of and appears to never have been played with. She is made of hard plastic and has a wig instead of rooted hair, which indicates she is one of the earlier dolls. Although her hair is in its original style and condition, she has saran hair so it can be washed and curled if desired. When she is tilted forward then backward, her crier works perfectly. There is a problem with the walking mechanism though, and when her legs are moved back and forth, her head does not turn from side to side as it should. Her eyes open and close freely and she has beautiful eyelashes. The coloring on her face is perfect, not scratched or marked in any way. She is a clean, beautiful doll. All of her clothing is original. She is wearing a pink dress. The bodice of the dress has a pretty overlay of gray fabric, trimmed with a beautiful edging and two little white buttons. The elastic on the sleeves no longer has the stretch to it. The dress has two places on the skirt where the stitching of the gray strip onto the skirt was missed in manufacturing. It is not very noticeable, unless you are looking for it. A pink satin ribbon ties around her waist into a bow in the front. Bows made of a newer looking pink satin ribbon are also tied onto her braids. Her slip has a dainty edging stitched around the bottom edge and the slip is attached to the skirt. She is also wearing a onesie. She has little white socks and white side fastening shoes. The shoes have “IDEAL TOY CORPORATION” and “MADE IN U.S.A.” molded onto the bottom of the heels. She still has the original card with 3 pink rubbery curlers attached to her left wrist. On her right wrist, she is wearing a doll bracelet made of pink beads, which appears to be from the same time period. She also has her original box which is in excellent condition. Please see photos.
