Up for sale is a 2003 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 ATV FIS Automatic. Bought it as a project initially, but have lost interest in it, and am not looking to finish it. It ended up needing much more than I anticipated, and I addressed each issue as they arose. I have well over $3000 invested in the project. I had the crankshaft rebuilt by Utah Crank Shaft, with a Japanese forged connecting rod. Top end was bored and had a sleeve pressed in by Kustom Kraft out of Vegas. Motor has a new wet clutch, and rebuilt water pump. I rebuilt both front and rear differentials. The rear has all new bearings and seals. The front was in good shape, so I just resealed it, but I do have the bearings for it. Other parts replaced listed below, and I have receipts for most:
The bad: I can’t get the bakes to hold. Either I haven’t gotten all the air out of the lines, or the new calipers are no good. I’ve tried with different brake masters, and brake lines, but haven’t tried putting the old calipers back on. I do have them though to try. I also suspect that the head gasket may not have sealed, because it looked like it might be blowing past into the radiator. A further inspection of that may be needed. If that is the case, the top end would just need to be taken apart, and the top of the cylinder and the head should be surfaced. The motor has essentially zero hours on it, so that will be the only thing needed to fix it. The speedometer is also missing, so I have no idea how many miles are on it, but with everything I have replaced, it will be a very reliable machine for years to come. Cosmetically, it is in rough shape. It has vinyl wrap on it, which doesn’t look the best, but would make for a great hunting ATV. It is all together currently, and runs and drives, with the aforementioned exceptions. It will do 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive. It still needs to be broken in and has break in oil in it currently. Have a lot of spare parts to go with it, as well a repair manual. A little work, and you will have a great four-wheeler. My loss is your gain. Title in hand.
