The Minolta X-370 is a robust, manual-focus 35mm SLR film camera introduced in 1984. Designed as an entry-level alternative to the more advanced X-700, it offers a great blend of aperture-priority auto-exposure and full manual control. It is highly favored by both beginners and enthusiasts. (See below for basic specs and technical details.)
This has been in a drawer for the last 12 years or so. I put some batteries in and it works fine. By "fine" I mean the shutter works, the film advance mechanism works, the exposure system is almost in dead agreement with an old hand-held Sekonic light meter, the viewfinder is clean with nice, bright LED's to indicate exposure. Of course, just because the shutter fires and the metering responds to changing light doesn't mean the accuracy of those systems are completely up to factory spec. I would be surprised if that were true for any camera more than a few years old. But minor deviations -- especially with print film -- might not be noticeable or can be compensated for through the film speed dial. I have no intention of running film through it as a final test -- too much trouble/expense -- but all indicators suggest it should not be an issue.
Cosmetically it looks almost new.
Batteries will not be included. I have several other cameras that take the same batteries to test out and demonstrate. I will demo the camera to potential buyers but the batteries stay here.
The rear light seals are intact but worn. If you ever feel the need, there are plenty of light seal kits available for cheap and replacing them is not rocket science. I've done it on several vintage cameras so I'm not guessing.
There was a last minute change where I switched the pictured MD f/1.7 lens with the advertised MC f/1.4 lens.
I did a recent survey of the SOLD listings on eBay and the average price paid for a battery-tested X-370/lens combo -- without the genuine Minolta leather case -- was $57.13! So buy local and save.
