Laguiole knives are made in southern France. Knives from the finer forges are handmade by a single artisan and have the traditional trademark bee carved into the back of the knife they also have highly carved and figure designs which are filed and polished on the back of the knife.
Please see the pictures for the hand work done on these knives. The finer the filing and design on the knife, the higher quality and more valuable these knives are. These knives all have forged bees and highly figured designs on the back of the knife and use high-quality 12c27 steel. The handles or scales are typically horn, bull horn, or wood.
Knife one. Laguiole Extra. Forge logo on blade. Highly detailed design in back and large blade size. G David France. Blade is 12 cm. Has shepherd’s cross and light horn scales. $150
Knife two. Laguiole l’Abielle. Blade is 9 cm with fine detail work and dark horn scales. $100.
