Little Mesa MB Picabeau
Sire: Prairie Wood Malakia *B
Dam: Sugar Moon VIC Beaulicious
Peek as I call her is out of my Beau-Nita daughter and my Beau-Nita great grandson. Life happened and I ended up selling my entire herd years ago and restarted last year. Peek was offered to me recently and I bought her to bring in some of my old genetics and because I always loved Beau-Nita. Her dam, Lish, was a herd favorite and was a great milker. Unfortunately, I think Peek would be much happier in a herd as a brood doe. She absolutely hates being set up for pictures let alone showing or LA so I don’t think she is going to enjoy her life here. She’s great on the stand for hand and machine milking and is currently being milked once per day. I have a very small herd and am making cuts. I just don’t think she’s going to be happy here. Peek leads well, loves grain and treats, and is curious but definitely is happier to be left alone other than milking. Previous owner said she is a great mom and has had triplets every year.
Full disclosure on this doe, I don’t know what kind of care she has had for the past 5 years prior to me buying her. Her coat is very rough and doesn’t strike me as a doe that has had great mineral/quality hay available to her. I have dewormed her, given her a copper bolus, and she is now on high quality feed. I have not shaved her as I don’t want to stress her out. I am fairly confident she has had mastitis and it has caused extra tissue on her right side. She still milks out well but she does look lopsided. As with a lot of these lines, I suspect she’s overheight but I haven’t taped her to be sure. I do have current disease testing pulled on her less than a month ago and she is negative for CAE, CL, and Johne’s.
I am open to offers and would be happy to expose her to either of my OMF bucks prior to her leaving. Pictured here before and after milking. Full body shots are after milking this morning.
Located in Western CO and willing to work with transport.
