1971 BSA 650 Lightening (A65)
This BSA was restored to RIDE!
The Engine, brakes and mechanicals were rebuilt by Brian St.John at Legend Cycle. It has a "mild" cam, domed pistons and a 2 into 1 exhaust that gives a boost over stock power.
The frame was media blasted and powder coated with period correct reinforcement of the frame and swingarm.
The steering head was replaced with a chrome-molly tube, welded and machined to mate with the forks and triple clamp from an '89 Suzuki GSX-R750. The front end is completed with a Harley hub carrying twin discs and laced to a 17" chome wheel.
The rear has that beautiful BSA conical hub which has been hand polished. New valved shocks complete the rear suspension.
With a "modern" front end including conical roller bearings at the headstock and the twin hydraulic discs, this bike has a "modern" ride and precise breaking. No old British rear end hop either! You get the beauty and sound of a classic brit bike with a safe predictable ride. It has been ridden just under 300 miles since the rebuild, it has fresh oil and is ready for summer.
