VenmoClassic Lane Sweetheart cedar chest, made in Altavista, VA — still has the original hang tags! The cedar interior is beautiful and fragrant, perfect for storing blankets, quilts, and heirlooms.
Exterior is solid with light surface wear typical of age. One small piece of decorative trim on the side needs to be reattached (see pictures) — simple wood glue fix. Lid opens and closes properly.
️ Safety Note – Lane Cedar Chest Recall
This chest was manufactured during the period covered by Lane’s 1996 CPSC recall (chests made 1912–1987) due to lids that automatically latch shut when closed. In compliance with federal safety guidelines, the latch/lock has been removed. This is the CPSC-recommended remedy and does not affect the beauty or function of the chest — it simply means the lid no longer auto-locks.
