Rain – 14-Year-Old Grade Mare****15.3 Hands | Ranch & Trail Horse | $4,000
Meet Rain, a 14-year-old grade mare standing 14.3 hands tall. She is a dependable, versatile mare that has been used for ranch work, trail riding, and roping.
Rain loads easily, saddles well, handles cattle confidently, and has been exposed to a variety of ranch situations. She has been used to push cows, work on the road, and rope off of. She has also spent time being packed with a pack saddle and has been started on team roping.
Originally, we purchased Rain as a broodmare for one of our barrel mares. Unfortunately, the breeding plans did not work out, and after her veterinary care was completed, I began using her for ranch and rope horse duties. She has since traveled to Arizona’s Strip country, where she helped with branding and shipping cattle back to Utah.
Rain is a solid, experienced mare with plenty of life left in her. She would be best suited for an experienced rider and would make a great ranch horse for someone looking for a seasoned mare that can go to work. She would also be a good fit for trail riding, gathering cattle, and general ranch use.
To be completely transparent, Rain does require some maintenance. She benefits from medication to help keep her comfortable and may do best with wedge pads or wedges on her front feet, depending on your farrier’s recommendation. She currently wears a size Double-O shoe. She is good to shoe overall but could use additional work on picking up and holding her feet consistently for the farrier.
I am only selling her to recover some of the expenses associated with the breeding program and veterinary costs. She is priced at $4,000, and while I may consider a reasonable offer, I am not interested in low-ball offers.
