The engine is sound with no mechanical issues but it needs a carburetor.

I am a small engine mechanic and this was brought to me because previous owner tried to adapt a different carburetor to it and could never get it to run quite right. Put an original style carburetor on it and you'll be good to go. I'm retiring from small engines and I just don't have the desire to work on it.

An original style carburetor should cost in the realm of 50 bucks or just take out the four bolts holding this engine on and put the $100 Harbor Freight engine on it.
