1985 Yamaha BW200. This bike is the iconic fat-tired off-road motorcycle known as the “Big Wheel” that was designed to prioritize traction and fun over speed. The Yamaha BW200 was only produced from 1985-1989.
Main specifications are 196CC 4 stroke engine, 5 speed manual transmission, kick start only, fuel tank capacity is 1.7 gallons, seat height is 31.3 inches, wheelbase is 42.9 inches, front tire is Kenda Pathfinder 25x8.00-12, rear tire is Rebel KT647M 23x11.00-9, and dry weight is 242 pounds.
It is complete except for the two missing side panels. It also has almost all original factory parts except for the following items: Both front and rear tires are new and it has a new petcock, fuel line, and tank vent hose. The seat has new cushioning and cover. The carburetor has been rebuilt. This bike also has the rare optional rear luggage rack.
This bike is trail ready and needs nothing. It is in excellent mechanical condition. Starts easily, runs smoothly, shifts correctly, handles nicely. Frame has been repainted, wheels are extremely nice in excellent condition, and the engine side covers have been polished instead of painted factory black. Everything works correctly including the headlight and taillight.
As noted, the two side panels are missing, the front fender shows considerable weathering with a couple of hairline cracks, and the gas tank, headlight housing, and rear fender show a fair amount of weathering. A reproduction gas tank, reproduction plastic set (fenders, side panels, and headlight housing) and decal set can be purchased for just under $500 that would make this bike look really sharp – but not necessary to go out and have a blast on the trails.
Included is an aluminum hitch receiver motorcycle carrier and an official Yamaha Service Manual CD.
Note 1: This motorcycle was manufactured for off road use only and cannot be registered as street legal in Utah.
Note 2: Odometer reading required for Craigslist ad but BW200 was not factory equipped with a speedometer or odometer.
Sold with Bill of Sale only. No title as Utah does not require titles for off road vehicles older than 1988.
