ZelleLooking for a new home for our sweet pup, Winston.
Winston is a 3-year-old Springer Spaniel and a bird dog through and through. We’ve had him since he was about 5 months old. He is neutered, microchipped, potty trained, and great with kids.
Winston is energetic, smart, and learns quickly. Our original plan was to fully train him as a bird dog, and he’s shown a lot of natural talent and promise. Unfortunately, life has gotten busier than we expected. Between grad school, two working parents, and another little one in the family, we simply aren’t able to give him the time and activity he deserves.
Winston has a great nose for bird scent and loves being in the field. When he finds birds, he’ll stay right with them, making them easy to locate. He has strong natural hunting instincts and would thrive with someone willing to continue developing his skills.
He would do best with an active owner who enjoys hunting, spending time outdoors, or has the time and consistency to continue his training and exercise routine. He loves having a job to do and would make a wonderful companion for the right person.
A few things to know: • He has occasional submissive peeing when he’s nervous or overwhelmed. • He put on a little extra weight over the winter and is currently working on slimming back down. • He absolutely will hunt chickens unless they are kept in a very secure run. • He has an enormous desire to hunt squirrels. If you’ve got squirrels raiding your yard, Winston considers that a full-time job and takes it very seriously.
This is not an easy decision for our family. We love Winston very much and simply want to find a home where he can get the attention, exercise, and opportunities he deserves.
