This is a vintage Lane Cedar Chest, known for its quality and "Guaranteed Moth Protection." It functions as a versatile storage trunk or an accent furniture piece. The chest is in good vintage condition with typical signs of age, including some wear on the finish and minor scuffs consistent with its history. It features an aromatic cedar interior designed to protect stored items.
Ideal for storing blankets, clothing, or keepsakes, this chest combines practical storage with classic appeal. Its sturdy construction and historical charm make it a unique addition to any home decor.
Vintage Lane cedar chest has a waterfall-style lid and a light brown wood veneer exterior. The interior is lined with aromatic cedar wood and includes the original manufacturer's branding and patent information. This piece has a hinged top and a decorative base with a subtle curved design. I rescued this Lane cedar cabinet from a long, slow death. It was forgotten about. I've washed it quickly and I'm thinking about taking on the rehab but wanted to put it up here first because I know a lot of people love MCM stuff. The leg is broken in the veneer is definitely crumbling. It will need some serious wood glue, clamps- maybe paint or exterior love. The inside is in much better shape and smells good! I spoke with a good friend in Ohio who has a passion for MCM furniture in general and he gave me some ideas on how to rehab it going forward. What really struck me was the inside being in such great shape in the original stickers still being intact. I think it's a really interesting piece, and if time allows, I may end up taking on the rehab myself. Mostly just looking for a good home- and happy to trade or maybe you know more about than me. It was manufactured August 1 in 1944 I believe.
