CashAppMy kids randomly brought this tortoise home. I said absolutely not, but I could tell the aquarium he came in was WAY too small (pic), so I spent quite a bit trying to make him comfortable while I spent weeks explaining to the kids that we cannot keep it.
I did my research, and this tortoise is for moderate- experienced keepers. It is currently too young to tell gender. It will grow to be about 80lbs. Since this is a juvenile, his current setup is a 'humid side' and an 'arid' side. It's a voracious eater and gets sassy if not promptly fed.
It will need a new hide. I bought everything online and the humidifying hide was too small. (But it can still create humidity) it can come with the tortoise enclosure, which is a flimsy TEMU situation, but it's worked. I can provide the original aquarium he came in for transport. I have a bag of shredded coconut for substrate and sphagnum moss to help with humidity. It will come with two thermometers that can monitor both temp and humidity, a basking rock and feeding dishes. (Which likely need to be upgraded as well) a UVB/Heat lamp combo, and any leftover calcium/salad topper we still have.
