Discovered in the plunder of the Trolls, this short Elven sword claimed by Bilbo Baggins was carried throughout middle earth by both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.
Bilbo himself christened this blade after his troubles with the spiders of Mirkwood Forest. After using the blade to free himself from the spider's cacoon and then slaying his attacker, he named the weapon with the words, "I will give you a name, and I will call you String".
After returning to Hobbiton, Bilbo hung the sword above his mantle for many years until he retired to Rivendell. In 3018, Bilbo gifted the short sword to his nephew Frodo to protect him as he set off with the Fellowship of the Ring to destroy the One Ring.
This short sword measures ~29" full length with a 440 stainless steel 21" blade engraved with Elven vine design. Solid metal guard and pommel, resin/plastic handle and includes wood plaque for mounting. (Note: I have lost the certificate of authenticity and hangers for the plaque).
