This is Storm, an 11-year-old 13 hh pony. I bought him a year ago for my daughter to ride on our drill team, but they just haven't been the right match. She is a timid rider, and Storm has a typical pony personality. That being said, I've put a lot of time into him over the past year, and he has improved so much.
My younger son actually gets along with him really well. Unfortunately, our drill team leader says he's just too short for our group. If he were two hands taller, I would honestly keep him for myself.
He's been in a couple of parades and handled them well. I also rode him in a grand entry, and he did surprisingly well. He was a little nervous, but nothing over the top.
Pros
Super smart and learns quickly. Nice trot and smooth gallop. Can easily keep up with the big horses. Good on the trail. Good for the farrier. Good to saddle. Stands quietly for mounting. Knows the basics of side passing. Has come a long way with consistent work. Things to know
He needs time to build trust with his person and does best once that relationship is established. He does best with consistent riding. If he sits for a month, expect to spend some time refreshing him. He has a strong personality and will test his rider at times. He is not a beginner's pony. He does well in the round pen, especially with me in the middle, but he needs a confident, experienced rider. He can be hard to catch until he knows and trusts you. I think Storm would be best suited for a confident small adult or a handy ranch kid who enjoys working with a smart pony. He has taught me a lot, and this isn't an easy decision. I bought him specifically for our drill team, and unfortunately, that just isn't going to work out.
Finding him the right home is more important to me than making a quick sale, so I will be picky about where he goes. Located in Rigby ID Asking5🥕🥕🥕
