A matched pair of Knoll MR20 armchairs, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's landmark cantilever design first conceived in 1927 and among the earliest tubular steel chairs ever put into production. These examples date to 1978 and pair a gently sprung, chrome-plated steel frame with supple black leather.

The MR20's continuous-loop arms and floating cantilever base make it as much sculpture as seating — a true Bauhaus icon that looks equally at home in a living room, a study, or pulled up to a dining table. The tubular steel flexes just enough to give the chair its signature comfort and bounce. As a pair, they make a striking statement flanking a fireplace or anchoring a reading corner.

Both chairs are in excellent vintage condition (8.5/10). The chrome is in excellent condition, and the black leather is in overall great condition with no serious damage — just a rich, even patina consistent with nearly five decades of age. The leather laces have recently been replaced. Acquired from Chairish in 2023.
