This late Victorian/Edwardian velvet coat displays significant age-related wear consistent with over 100 years of age. There is widespread fading and discoloration to the velvet, scattered pile wear, tears to the outer velvet (including at the shoulder and back), a missing velvet covering on one button, and shattering with tears to the silk lining. The interior waist stay remains present. Despite the condition issues, the dramatic ruched velvet collar and cuffs remain exceptionally beautiful, making this a desirable piece for antique costume collectors, textile preservation, theatrical display, study, or careful restoration.
