VenmoIBIS HD3 Mullet MX (29 inch front / 27.5 inch rear) Full Carbon Build for sale:
Selling the third and last of our beloved (older but extremely good) IBIS HD3 Mullets – super clean and low mileage frame - size large
Ibis made this frame from 2014-2016 (details here: https://www.ibiscycles.com/bikes/past-models/mojo-hd3 ) & lists this frame size for riders 5’8” – 6’1”.
This was the last frame Ibis built before the industry trended towards Long/Low & Slack- meaning this bike has a short wheelbase; which combined with 150mm of rear wheel travel, is ready to send off everything, making it extremely agile & very easy to throw around in the air & super fun.
All the cool kids are riding short travel 29ers now, and while a 29” rear wheel does offer a (slightly) better rear wheel rollover of obstacles- the tradeoff is less maneuverability, less nimble cornering and generally less rear wheel travel due to the larger rear wheel.
This is why, Ibis’s HD6, and their newly released OSO Trail & OSO HD are shipping as MX configurations and their current Ibis Ripmo, and Ripley are built to be MX compatible from the factory; & why Santa Cruz Bronsons, Nomads, 5010s, V10s, Bullits, Heckler SL, & Valas ship as MX bikes as well.
This bike RIPS; & is perfect for sending it on Steep, Tight, Technical trails & loves Gooseberry Mesa, Captain Ahab, Bonneville Shoreline, Mueller Park downhill & the Park City Trails system.
If you love popping off every trail opportunity, use the Cane Creek shock’s 4 way suspension tuning to dial in extra low speed rebound for big POP & dial back the high speed rebound for composed landing in the chunder & get after it.
The DW link is extremely efficient and my son took fifth place on this bike at the Beaver NICA race after recovering from a back injury.
Frame: Ibis HD3 Large & includes Ibis Frame mount storage bag
Fork: Fox 36 29inch 140 Travel Grip 2 damper- (Have tried 150 travel on this frame & 140 is the sweet spot)
