Ruger Special “Ruger” is a 2018 bay gelding looking for someone to take him to the next level. He earned $1,250 on the track, retired sound, and has transitioned well into a new career.

Ruger is started on the barrel pattern and is currently loping through it. He has the speed, athleticism, and ability to make a nice barrel horse with the right person. His current owner simply has several horses farther along in training that are taking priority, so Ruger is looking for someone who can make him their focus.

Ruger is not a beginner's horse. He can be quirky and will test boundaries, so he needs a confident, experienced rider who sets firm expectations and won't be intimidated when he pushes those limits. He does best with consistency and benefits greatly from being ridden regularly. When he's in a routine, he's honest and willing, but he still needs someone who will hold him accountable.

On the ground, Ruger is easy to handle. He stands well for the farrier, loads well, and saddles without issues.

Ruger is a bleeder and does require maintenance. He does not need Lasix for day-to-day riding at home, but he has a tendency to bleed when hauled off the property and should be expected to require Lasix when competing or traveling.

This is an athletic horse with a lot of potential, but we're looking for the right match rather than just any buyer. If you're an experienced rider looking for a talented prospect and are willing to put in the consistent time he thrives on, Ruger could make a very rewarding partner.
