Here's a little horse that's got a lot more try than most horses twice his size. He's a 14-year-old Palomino gelding standing 14 hands, and he's been used the way a ranch horse ought to be used.

This horse will cover 20 to 30 miles in a day gathering and moving cattle without batting an eye. He'll go until the job's done and never quits. He's got all the heart in the world and gives you everything he's got every time you swing a leg over him.

He's seen plenty of tough cattle and won't back down from a mean one. I've doctored cows by myself on him, roped and tripped 1,800-pound cows alone, and caught some rank, wild cattle that most horses wouldn't want any part of. He's fast enough to get you there—we clocked him at 38 mph—and he's got plenty of cow sense. He rates one naturally, watches a cow, and is a solid horse to rope off of. If you make your living horseback, you'll appreciate how handy he is.

He's ranch broke the right way and knows a day's work. That said, he isn't for a green rider. He's got plenty of motor, is quick on his feet, and can throw a little crow hop when he's fresh. After that, he's all business. He's athletic, responsive, and always ready to go to work.

If you're looking for a horse to pack a beginner around, keep looking. If you want a tough, honest ranch horse that's been used hard, has seen real work, and will stay with you until the sun goes down, this little gelding will fit the bill.
