VenmoMeet Iris
Iris is looking for her forever home.
In the first week of May, Iris was found near my school, extremely thin and severely matted. She had obviously been surviving on her own for a long time, but was incredibly friendly and begging to come inside the school buildings. It is clear she had a home at some point, as she was already spayed and very comfortable indoors. She was not microchipped, and despite my efforts, I have been unable to locate a previous owner.
During her first week with me, she discovered a basket of towels on a shelf in my laundry room and slept there for about 23 hours a day. Since then, her sweet personality has blossomed. She has regained weight, confidence, and is now back to full health.
Iris is an exceptionally affectionate cat. She loves to curl up in your lap and be loved. More than anything, she wants to be near her people. She follows me around the house, enjoys walking through the garden beds with me while I water, and chats with me the whole time in the sweetest little trills and squeaks. She is also playful and enjoys having a variety of toys scattered around for her to discover.
She has settled beautifully into an indoor routine. She is perfectly content spending quiet days napping while I'm at work and is always excited for attention and playtime when I get home. On days I'm home, she happily spends the day by my side.
If you’re looking for a cat that wants to be your companion–not just live in your house–Iris may be your perfect match.
Iris is truly a wonderful cat. The only reason I am looking for a home for her is because my resident cat, Alice, has made it clear that she prefers being an only cat. Iris, on the other hand, has been outgoing, curious, and has even tried to make friends. I think she would thrive as an only cat or with another friendly, playful cat that would enjoy a companion.
I cannot say for certain how Iris does with dogs. I have not personally introduced her to one, but I was told by someone who previously tried to help her that she appeared uncomfortable around their dog. Because of that, a home without dogs may be the safest choice.
Iris is estimated to be between 5 and 6 years old and is fully vetted (vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and previously spayed). She was medically shaved due to the severity of her matting, and her beautiful long coat is already growing back.
Because Iris is such a special and resilient little cat who has already overcome so much, I will be very selective about the home she goes to. My goal is to make sure she never has to wonder where her next meal or safe place to sleep will come from again.
If you think you might be the right fit for Iris, please send me a message and tell me a little about yourself, your home, and any pets you currently have.
A $100 rehoming fee will apply to help deter those with dishonest intentions.
We are located in Mount Pleasant. Ideally, potential adopters would be able to meet Iris in person, but I am willing to discuss transportation for the right home.
