VenmoMeet Thor! He’s an 8 year old (we believe) Haflinger cross. I originally purchased him for our son, but he’s greener than we first thought and just not a good match for our family based on my son’s riding level.
At a different stage in life I’d keep him without question, but he’s had a rough start to life and I can’t commit to the time he deserves to get him to be more confident. You can see he wants to be loved on, and he needs a person to show him how to get there.
Couple of things about Thor: He doesn’t like men, though this is getting much better. It will take time to earn his trust.
He doesn’t like his feet handled. I’ve been working with him on this a good deal and we have our farrier scheduled to be out in the next two weeks, but he is overdue. If anyone picks him up before his feet are done I’m happy to discuss cost a touch, and how to best approach a much needed hoof trim.
He is broke to ride but I wouldn’t consider him a beginners horse. He needs a very handy kid, and would be much happier as a one person horse.
He is broke to pack but we have not personally packed him.
Let me know if you have questions - I believe he’s been passed around a lot and I want to find him the right home not just a new home.
