VenmoWe have had this truck for about 12 years. We probably put about 3,000 miles on it each year. Total mileage is about 110,000. It is comfortable, has a nice interior, and ran well for about 9 years. We had some issues come up with the engine and put about $5k into getting it fixed. It ran fine for about 2 years, and then the engine overheated and seized up about a year ago. This is the explanation of the problem from our mechanic:
Vehicle has had cylinder heads rebuilt, but shortly after had misfires under load only on cylinders 2,7,and 8.
Injector for cylinder 2,7,8 were moved to a different location, and misfire followed from cylinder 2.
Injector was replaced, and found catalytic converter for bank with cylinders 7,8 was plugged with excessive backpressure.
Converter repair still showed misfire only under load for cylinder 8- and a compression test was performed which found cylinder 8 cylinder compression low at 77 psi.
Likely plugged converter in exhaust caused a burnt piston ring, or valve issue.
Vehicle stalled a year later, and would not restart. Potential valve or cylinder issue, though a follow up compression test has not been performed.
