VenmoMeet Missy, a sweet female border collie - chow chow mix. She has lovely, thick, red-gold fur with blond markings and an adorably dappled tongue. Missy is the granddaughter of our two dogs, from whom we have had many ADORABLE puppies that have gone on to happy homes. Missy was born when someone who had purchased from two of our previous litters failed to realize how quickly puppies become old enough to have their own puppies, and failed to get either of them fixed. Luckily, despite being inbred, the puppies all turned out healthy. We took Missy as the sweetest, most social of the litter to ensure she would get a good start at life. She enjoyed running with (and pestering) her grandpa until he passed away a few months ago, but has never gotten along well with her grandma. With just the two females left, Missy has no other dog to play with, and my son who has mostly been caring for her will be leaving on a mission soon. My younger children are not as capable at keeping the two girls away from each other and it is proving to cut into how much outdoor time each of the dogs is able to have.
She has good energy and problem solving skills, but isn't overly hyper. She doesn't often bark, but will let you know with a series of chuffs if she sees someone coming up to the house she doesn't recognize. However, she has been gentle with adults and children whether on our property or out and about. At about two years old, she still has a good amount of puppy in her, and can be pretty spacey about boundaries, bumping into little kids in her enthusiasm. If you have small children, you'll need to supervise play time together to makes sure the kids don't get bowled over as she romps around them. She has a tendency to make a snapping sound with her jaws at the air when she gets excited, like a silent bark that never fully manifests. She is more friendly with the cat than he would prefer, but she has never tried to hurt him.
Missy sleeps at night in a crate in our house and readily goes inside to rest or to get out of the heat. We don't let her wander the house, so I suspect her ability to know not to bathroom inside is pretty shaky. For us, she is mostly a hangout with people inside and then be independent outside sort of dog.
Missy is a sweet, loving animal. We will definitely want to meet you and have you spend some time with her to ensure it is a good fit if you are interested in adopting.
