“This Chic Reddy” or “Malibu” is a 2021 model mare that is a near-finished barrel horse with a solid start on poles. She would make an excellent step-up horse for someone ready to advance or for an experienced youth rider.

She is honest on the pattern and has a lot of potential. Her biggest weakness is going into the first barrel—if she isn’t encouraged, she will go in on the wrong lead due to a lack of confidence, but she will switch over. The second and third barrels are typically very solid. She is a sensitive mare that responds much better to leg pressure than to heavy bit pressure.

I originally purchased Malibu as a 3-year-old to be a backup head horse, but she quickly let me know she wanted nothing to do with cows. After that, I decided to put her on the barrel pattern and train her for my sister to use in high school rodeo. However, my sister recently made her school’s cheer team and decided she didn’t have time to do both.

With that change, I’ve decided to offer Malibu for sale. I don’t have a personal need for a barrel horse, and with that I want her to go to someone that will help her shine at the things she loves

Malibu has been hauled and has competed in Jr. Posse events and several jackpots. At her most recent jackpot, she placed 3rd in the 2D (with only two runners in the 1D). She also qualified for the Ogden Pre-Rodeo Coca-Cola Barrel Race, where she placed 3rd.

She has the talent to continue progressing with someone who will keep building her confidence.

Malibu is a very gentle and loving mare. She loves the attention and loves to be loved on. She really is a special horse with so much potential and I will be picky as to where she goes.
