The hydraulic piston no longer holds a set height on its own, but there are two easy workarounds: use the included hose clamp on the post to lock in your preferred height permanently, or unclamped, you can dial in the height while seated and it'll hold as long as you're sitting (it resets when you stand). Sturdy and fully functional either way, just not "set it and forget it" like when new.
