Despite lack of availability in farm supply stores, now is a great time to buy chicks! Fall chicks = eggs in spring. If you get your chicks now and grow them out during the cold weather (when hens will struggle to lay anyways) they will start laying around spring and you’ll have eggs all spring summer and fall!
