Antique English Queen Anne/Georgian Oak Plank-Seat Chair – Circa 1790
Very rare to find chairs of this age in Utah!
Beautiful antique English oak plank-seat chair, believed to date to approximately circa 1790. This is a handsome example of traditional English country furniture, featuring a substantial solid-oak plank seat, beautifully figured and naturally aged oak, and an elegant pierced splat back with a distinctive Queen Anne/Georgian influence.
The chair has a wonderfully honest, time-worn appearance, with rich dark brown coloration, visible grain, surface wear, and the character one expects from an approximately 200+ year-old piece of furniture. The solid plank construction and traditional pegged/joinery construction give it the substantial feel of an early English oak chair.
No cracks or breaks and chair sits sturdily, but a couple spots could use tightnening/glue.
Details: • Antique English oak chair • Believed to date to approximately circa 1790 • Solid oak plank seat • Pierced and shaped decorative splat • Traditional English Queen Anne/Georgian styling • Beautiful aged oak patina • Original-looking construction and joinery • Wonderful decorative and collector's appeal
A particularly attractive piece for an English country, farmhouse, traditional, or antique interior. It would also make an excellent accent or occasional chair for a collector of early English furniture.
Asking price: $250 OBO
Cash strongly preferred.
