Piper - White Swiss Shepherd
Located in Ogden, Utah
Piper is a 1.5-year-old female White Swiss Shepherd looking for a very special home. This is an extremely difficult decision for me because she is deeply loved and honestly one of my favorite dogs. I don’t have to rehome her, but with five dogs, I feel she would be happier in a home where she can receive more one-on-one attention, daily activities, and plenty of opportunities to do the things she loves.
Piper is: • House trained • Crate trained • Leash trained • Off-leash trained for fetch/ball play • Basic obedience trained • Medium-high energy with an off-switch in the house • Extremely ball driven and loves to play fetch • Playful and affectionate once bonded • Able to settle quietly in her crate with no separation anxiety
Piper can be dog-friendly with dogs who respect her space. She would do well either as a dedicated companion or potentially with another stable dog.
Although Piper is a pretty outgoing girl in familiar environments, she is shy and fearful around strangers. She does well in public settings such as parks and farm stores when people respect her space. She prefers to exist around strangers rather than interact with them directly.
When meeting new people, Piper does not like to be approached or petted. She will often move away and then come back to the person on her own terms. She may take a couple of days to warm up to someone before she becomes completely confident with them. People are welcome to give her treats, but she does best when initially ignored and allowed to approach at her own pace.
Piper can become avoidant or shut down in overwhelming situations, especially crowded environments or places where she feels cornered.
Once Piper trusts someone, she is an incredibly loving, playful, loyal, and affectionate dog. With the people she knows and trusts, she loves them wholeheartedly and is extremely friendly and social.
Piper loves being involved in everyday life and would especially enjoy a home where she can regularly be included in outdoor activities.
Piper could/would thrive with: • An adult-only home or a home with older, respectful children who can give her space while she warms up • A quieter environment • Someone who enjoys hiking, playing fetch, going to the park, and spending time outdoors • A farm, ranch, or active household where she can be involved in daily life • A home with another stable dog or as a dedicated companion • Owners who are calm, patient, and willing to let her build trust at her own pace • Someone who can maintain clear boundaries and continue her training with firm, consistent leadership while still being gentle and understanding with her
Piper needs someone who understands that being gentle with her does not mean allowing her to make all the rules. She does best with someone who can confidently uphold boundaries and expectations while also recognizing when she is uncomfortable and giving her the space she needs. She needs a handler who can provide structure without being harsh.
I am being extremely selective about her placement because I do not have to rehome her. I genuinely think she would be happier with someone who can take her hiking, to the park, and play fetch with her more frequently than I currently can. But if the right home does not come along, I am completely happy to keep her.
There is a small rehoming fee, and I will be covering her spay prior to placement. I am also happy to dog-sit her free of charge anytime her future owners travel. And if for any reason things do not work out, Piper will always have a home back with me.
If you think you might be a good fit for Piper, please reach out and tell me a little about yourself, your lifestyle, and the type of home you could offer her. I am also happy to have someone come meet her multiple times and spend time with her before making any decisions. I want this to be the right match for Piper above all else. 🖤
