Kyah is a very sweet dog. We rescued her from a puppy mill a few years ago and have treated her like the princess she is ever since. She is not aggressive towards people or children, but doesn't like to be overstimulated, and will hide under chairs and tables. She's shy around large groups of people or noisy environments until she feels comfortable enough to come out. She doesn't mind other dogs (has lived with a Chihuahua and a Rottweiler), so size nor attitude doesn't intimidate her. She follows the mood of her people. When the house is quiet, she mimics that until the doorbell rings, or there is a knock on the door. She quiets down pretty quickly after the guests have arrived. Outside, she enjoys running around and sniffing all the things. She's usually quiet unless firetrucks drive by or barking new dogs pass by. Regular neighborhood dogs or neighbors typically don't get a bark from her. She absolutely needs a secure fenced-in yard. She is adept at escaping. I have a recently developed a health condition and can no longer chase her anymore (her favorite game after escaping). Over the years we've offered her a variety of soft toys, squeaky toys, balls, ropes, and bones. She's never shown any interest in any of them so she won't be coming to her new home with any toys, balls, ropes or bones. We feed her dry kibble for mature dogs (she'll come with a quart-size ziploc bag for mixing into whatever your buying for an easier digestive transition) and occasionally table scraps (scrambled eggs are her favorite breakfast snack, and a bite of whatever meat were having for dinner). Of course we also pay the cheese tax. She loves treats, and "takes nice." She can be trusted to take finger food from an infant without scaring or harming the child. Right now she has a summer haircut. Think what you want about our decision, but her double coat and the 100* plus weather this summer convinced us not to risk her health over beauty. She has great body condition considering she spent the majority of her younger years being a breeding machine for profit. She's 9 years old. She hasn't been bred in over 2 years. She has heterochromia (one blue eye, one brown eye) and is simply stunning to look at. She has a chip and is current on all her vaccines. She enjoys resting near her people/person and will sleep on the bed (if you don't wiggle your feet too much) or on the floor under the desk behind the chair when there is a thunderstorm or fireworks. She is crate trained and likes being in the crate with a buddy while you're gone. Registered with the Continental Kennel Club.
