ApplePayWonderful large vintage hobby horse on wheels / platform. Horse, approximately 30” tall from floor to top of head and 26” long from nose to tail.
The horse has a brown plush/felt-type covering, inset glass-type eyes, leather ears, painted molded muzzle and hooves, light-colored mane and tail, and a vintage saddle and strap. It stands on a painted wooden platform with four wheels. One wheel is mismatched and one has some age related damage.
It has a great old-fashioned European toy-horse look and makes a striking decorative or collector’s piece.
I believe this is an early to mid-20th-century European/German-style toy horse, possibly circa 1940s but I have not been able to identify the manufacturer.
Condition is very good and appealing for its age, with expected wear from age and use. There is wear and paint loss to the wooden platform and painted muzzle, some wear to the covering, saddle and mane/tail, as shown. I have left everything as found rather than attempting restoration.
Measurements: approximately 30” H × 26” L.
Selling as a vintage collectible/decorative piece rather than as a children’s riding toy.
