Beautiful and unusual antique upholstered armchair with dramatic pierced spiral / volute arms, a curved gondola-style back, burgundy velvet upholstery, and a dark mahogany or mahogany-finished hardwood frame.

The chair has a strong 19th-century Empire / Regency / Classical Revival look and features traditional upholstery construction underneath, including coil springs, burlap/jute, natural fiber stuffing, and hand-tacked upholstery layers. The current burgundy velvet appears to be a later reupholstery.

Condition:

Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. The wood has scratches, finish wear, small scuffs and areas of surface loss. Upholstery shows some wear and fading, and portions of the decorative trim are loose or worn. The chair appears structurally substantial and retains a beautiful antique presentation.

The frame appears genuinely old and traditionally constructed, but I am not assigning a specific maker or exact year without documentation.
