Looking for the right home for Bubba 🤍🦜
This is an incredibly difficult post for me to make, but I’m looking for a very experienced, loving home for my Umbrella Cockatoo, Bubba.
Bubba is approximately 17 years old and has so much personality. He can be incredibly sweet, affectionate, funny, and loves being with his person. Like many cockatoos, he becomes very attached and wants to be involved in everything you’re doing.
Unfortunately, Bubba has become aggressive toward my children. He has lunged, chased, and bitten, and with young kids in my home, I can no longer take the risk of someone getting seriously hurt. This is not a decision I ever wanted to make, but my children’s safety has to come first.
Because of this, I am looking for a child-free home with someone who has experience with large parrots, preferably cockatoos. His new person needs to understand their behavior, noise level, emotional needs, boundaries, and the lifelong commitment that comes with owning one.
Bubba will come with his cage.
His cage and his belongings will go with him so he has something familiar during the transition.
I am asking a $___ rehoming fee, including his cage. This isn’t about making money from him. I want to make sure whoever takes Bubba is serious, prepared for the financial commitment of caring for a large parrot, and genuinely wants to give him a permanent home.
I am not looking to give him to the first person who asks. I will be asking about your experience with birds, your household, and where Bubba will be living. Finding the right home is much more important to me than finding one quickly.
Bubba deserves someone who can give him the environment and attention he needs to thrive. I love him tremendously, which is what makes this so heartbreaking.
